Tube of the Day: TAI TV Double Duel
Today is my day to present you all with a ‘Tube of the Day’ and I’ve chosen you all a little treat. This video is just one of a series of short films, made by and starring the band The Academy Is…
Other videos include Butchers nightmare, and Panic! In Scotland. But this one has to be one off my all time favourites. I’ve seen it many times and it still cracks me up. It tells a story of revenge, as our lead character played by The Academy is… front man William Beckett, discovers who stole money from his Grandmother. Several meetings follow, in which Beckett enjoys rubbing a toy gun over his face and sauntering about in extremely tight white jeans. The story comes to a head when the thief challenges Beckett to a double duel. This is where it gets good. But you’ll have to watch it to find out what happens.
The camera work, editing and continuity leaves little to be desired, but hey, what homemade You Tube video doesn’t? But it is funny. You don’t even have to know the band to get this. It is just pure brilliance.
Diving - Your never to old!
Meet Pearl Heenan, an 81 year old female from Brisbane Australia. I guess you could say she's just your regular OAP. Old, wrinkly and probably smells of a slight stench of urine. Oh yeah, and she dives! No not dies (well she will eventually) - DIVES.
Yes that's right. Feast your eyes on some of the most amusing, yet somewhat 'elegant' dives you will ever see grace a swimming pool. Surely, one of the most ignored sports on the planet now has an icon, a hero with which it can begin to promote the sport to young and old alike.
The video itself is cut from the Sky Sports show 'Soccer AM', who should take full credit for unearthing Pearl's amazing talent. Belly flops, back flips, side turns, Pearl really has it all. The video shows her graceful physique, body hugging swimsuit and all, from a variety of shots and angles that really do give full credit to the craft and technique Pearl possesses when it comes to the board.
Watch it, admire it, and then pop down to the local pool and try emulate this marvellous feat.
Scofield. Michael Scofield
I realised that I haven't yet posted a 'Tube' about film (the week is still young though dear bloggers) so I thought I would meet you sort of half way. How's a video featuring the delectable Wentworth Miller edited together with clips from the recent James Bond: Casino Royale movie sound?
Prison Break's rather aesthetic hero, Michael Scofield, has collided fandoms with with James Bond's also rather aesthetic hero...well, James Bond.
The video itself is amazing. It's cut and pasted to dizzying speed with each clip synchronised with the pumped up Bond theme tune. However as a result, at just over four minutes, it does feel a little too long, though the ending is pure brilliant.
But, and I think most females (and honestly, most males) would agree with me here, the best part of the video is being able to glimpse what it would be like if Miller were Bond. I love the idea! Lets campaign for it. 'MILLER FOR
The name's Fogg. Anna Fogg.
Hogwarts meets South Park
It is not easy to decide what is funny and what is not. Having looked at as many ‘funny’ videos as I could, I felt at odds with the collective sense of humour of you tube.
The videos, which had me in fits of laughter, seemed to have few ratings, whilst those, which I found the most boring, were flooded with comments and appreciation. How could this be? This made my task of finding the comic video of the day somewhat challenging. My nails are bitten to the quick! How to satisfy the comic taste buds of all you faithful Internet junkies?
Whilst trawling through You Tube’s randomized comic videos, I discovered this little beauty! Classic south park moments replace the script for Harry Potter. You cannot help but laugh at Cartmans tirade of expletives. It takes me back to a Friday night, the stolen half an hour in front of the box, basking in the glow of purely scandalous comedy.
This film deserves its place in the limelight and so I thought that I would be the one to resurrect it into your lives and hearts. Although the humour is crass, politically incorrect and classless I am sure you will view it with a certain reverent fondness. Alternatively, if you think I have made a gross error in my judgement please feel free to state your case.
Please - Leave it to the professionals
I continue to ask myself frequently why people do this to themselves. There isn't a single band you can't look up without find fans (usually girls)posting videos of themselves singing one of their songs.
Do they think it makes them look cool? Do they think they will get talent spotted? I haven't heard of a single pop sensation who has become famous this way. Although with the way the music industry works I'm sure it won't be long until it happens.
In this example we see a girl singing Fallout Boy's 'Sugar we're going down'. Listen love... you can't sing. Why are you making a fool out of yourself by broadcast this embarrassment all over You Tube? It's laughable that in the comments people are suggesting ways in which she could make her voice sound better. Can't they see how mortifying it is?
People like this drive me mad. But still, if you're in need of a good laugh, then watch this video.

Girl jumps through Basketball Hoop... no really!
Browsing through the latest sport videos from the weekend's action, I thought that I would steer away from the traditional football videos, despite some dramatic late winners for both Man Utd and Tottenham, and some amusing bloopers (oh dear Mr Fabregas). Instead, I plumped for a random video that although has no true 'sporting credentials', has a humorous WOW factor that is almost certain to generate both astonished admiration, and unconvinced speculation.
The video is called 'girl jumps through basketball hoop' and is pretty self explanatory. A team of four 'gymnast lads' (some would put it another way), gather all their inner strength to hurl a rather tiny yet extremely flexible girl 15 feet in the air, flipping her into a full 360 degree somersault, resulting in her landing feet first straight through the hoop. Swoosh! Two-points to team gymnasts.
I think this video is genius, and bar the small pain the girl seems to get in the back of her neck after the stunt, it seems nobody was hurt whilst performing this insane act, which is always a bonus. Cue students up and down the country gathering their friends at the nearest basketball court to recreate this superb Jackass-esque manoeuvre. In fact, try too hard to perform that all important dunk, and it may just 'nearly happen' accidentally.
However, as with all seemingly unbelievable videos online, some comments from the community express disbelief of the video, claiming 'fake'. Even in slow-motion, it still seems to me that she clearly flew through the hoop, with the sound and movement of the net being almost conclusive proof. So with ReviewTube giving it the thumbs up for authenticity, check it out for yourself. Be prepared to be amazed.
Tube Of The Day: Dammit Jack!
Of course, being the hardcore 24 fan that I am, I just had to have a 24 post. So whilst browsing YouTube I came across this little gem.
Some amazing-soul-dedicated-to-his-show/sad-loser-with-way-too-much-time (you decide) made a montage of clips from 4 seasons of 24. 'Of what?' I don't hear you asking since you've probably already viewed the clip. Of Jack Bauer saying 'dammit!' of course eager Blogger.
The two minute clip is comprised solely of Jack Bauer yelling the word 'dammit'. Apparently, from the intro it appears that the video maker was influenced by an apperance Kiefer Sutherland aka Jack Bauer himself made on a TV guest show.
30 Seconds to Mars - The Kill
I love this video, and I just have to take this opportunity to write about it. I’m not being biased when I say this is a fantastic video. I’m not a ‘30 Seconds to Mars’ fan girl, or a Jared Leto one come to that. But with this video it was love at first sight.
It may have something to do with its obvious use of the film ‘The Shining’ one of my favourite movies. The video goes very well with the track, almost telling the story. The characters of the movie have been replaced with the band. The way this video is shot is quite spectacular as well. The angles, the use of colour. Everything is breath taking.
The comments left on You Tube are mostly those from Jared Leto fans, and doesn’t give you much of an idea of what the videos about. Do give this band a chance; they are not just living off Leto’s movie star career. This is a brilliant song, and an amazing video.
Stargate:Atlantis
This is a short fanvideo of the TV show Stargate:Atlantis. To be truthful i've never seen the show, but it does have a huge cult following on the internet. I was browsing Livejournal when I found the piece 'Ambushed' which led me to this video.
You may have to know about the characters, the plotlines and their situations to fully understand it, however from a creative viewpoint it's absolutly stunning. The Piano and strings over the vibrante, yet slightly washed out images create a sense of isolation and yearning.
It's been very cleverly edited together, using clips from SGA, but also from other films and shows, some clips also appear to be home made videos using a handheld camera.
I'm sure for fans of the show this is nothing short of a sparkling gem, not only because of the implied slash of the two shown characters but because of effort and talent of the video. If only all fanvideos were this good.

Carling Cup Brawl - You be the judge
The aftermath left from Sunday’s epic Carling Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea is still being felt across the world of football. If you somehow have managed to completely miss the events of last weekend (where have you been), this tube provides you with the opportunity to see, and more importantly judge for yourself who exactly is in the wrong.
Despite Chelsea’s much needed success, and the horrific sight of Blues captain John Terry lying unconscious after being kicked to kingdom come, it will be the ugly scenes of the closing 22 man fracas (plus managers) that will stick thick in the memories of most.
So what do you think from the footage? Did Adebayor deliver that knockout blow to Frank Lampard? Or was he a victim of mistaken identity. The video is slightly inconclusive, but gives a good enough viewpoint on things. It shows Adebayor running in aggressively, but it seems as if he was just breaking things up. It didn’t help Adebayor that his reaction to his red card was so poor, and surely if he had left the field quietly, his appeal might have had a leg to stand on.
One thing for certain is that football doesn’t need these ugly scenes that are more akin to the World Wrestling Entertainment. However, we at ReviewTube have noticed that Wenger's Arsenal seem to be at the centre of controversial moments such as this all to often as of late. Sore losers? Surely not. Nonetheless check out this tube and cast you own opinion.
OKGO - Do What You Want
OKGO became known all over You Tube for their video to the song ‘Here it goes again’, which featured the band doing a dance routine on treadmills. This video was filmed all in one take and became a phenomenon in the world of music videos.
Now the band is back with their new single ‘Do what you want’ and the video is just as wacky as the last. This time round we see the band wrapped in wallpaper, blending in with the wallpapered room. Messing around on pogo sticks and playing instruments.
This Video is amazing, although by the end makes you feel a little dizzy. The only negative point I have to make about this video is that it completely distracts you from the song. Even so, it’s an original idea, and lives up to the bands reputation. It’s very well made, and looks a lot more professional than the amateur looking ‘Here it goes again’.
Definitely watch this video.
The BEST shave a man can get
For those of you searching for a more gratifying shaving experience, this is the video for you. A new gadget shaver with a difference, that takes the meaning of hedonism to new heights. If you like the 'rough and ready' look then this is a definite must see.
The guy attempts to shave whilst gyrating uncontrollably to his funky tunes, however it is a pretty close shave.
The Anton Sledgehammer company presented this fantastically funny clip on you tube. This is a company, which provides humorous advertising as well as a little light relief from your average forceful advertising. The advertising style is 'viral' meaning that the company supports it's sponsors by posting videos on you tube, google and itunes.
This particular episode in the jellette wars seems to have you all entertained, and so it would seem the job is done. A short burst of humour to fill in your surf time and leave you chuckling to yourself.
